Dryer drum support roller. If the dryer is making a rumbling or knocking noise the rollers may be worn out causing the drum not to turn smoothly.

Dryer thermistor. This thermistor should read approximately 11.9K Ohms of resistance at 70 degrees Fahrenheit (21’ Celsius). If the thermistor is defective, it may prolong or shorten the drying time or cause a fault code. A defective thermistor is not responsible for a dryer not heating.

Dryness sensor bar

The Whirlpool Burner Igniter Kit 279311 is a high-quality replacement part that ignites gas to light the dryer burner. It replaces multiple igniters and requires safety precautions and disconnection from utilities before installation.

Consider replacing the gas valve coils while you have the dryer apart.

Dryer lint filter. Air flow is vital to proper dryer operation. The lint filter should be cleaned before every load and replaced if damaged.
